ATRI’s 2026 Top Truck Bottlenecks

The American Transportation Research Institute released its 15th annual list highlighting the most congested bottlenecks for trucks in America, with the interchange of Interstate 294 and Interstates 290/88 in Chicago ranking as the most congested freight bottleneck in the country.

Oregon is now home to THREE of the top 100 worst freight bottlenecks in the country, with congestion costing the Oregon trucking industry $1.0 billion a year. These are the spots in Oregon that can bring freight movement to a standstill:

  • #27: I-5 @ I-84 (Portland)
  • #39: I-5 @ the Columbia River (Portland)
  • #78: I-5 @ I-205 South (Portland)
