How to Prepare for FMCSA’s New Registration System – Motus

If you have a USDOT number or USDOT number with operating authority, it is recommended that you complete the following steps by May 14 to prepare for the launch of Motus, FMCSA’s new registration system.

1. Log in to the FMCSA Portalto ensure your account is active.
2. Verify the FMCSA Portal company official and ensure the correct company official is listed in your FMCSA Portal account. This will allow you to claim your USDOT number in Motus and automatically populate your new Motus account with existing records, streamlining your setup in the new system.
3. Ensure the most up-to-date information is on file for your business. You can make updates to your company information in the FMCSA Portal the same way you complete a biennial update.

Completing these steps will help mitigate issues as FMCSA switches from the old to the new system, including being unable to claim your USDOT number to access your Motus account.
