Each year OTA hosts several major events for the diverse segments that make up the trucking industry - from safety to technology & maintenance to truck drivers to leadership. You'll find brief descriptions of each below, along with information on the various awards that are presented annually. These events are complemented by additional regional events throughout the year. Check the OTA Event Calendar for the latest!
Southern Oregon Industry Mixer
Like many in January, OTA heads south for the winter - but only as far as the Seven Feathers Resort Casino in Canyonville, OR where the annual Southern Oregon Industry Mixer is held. This popular even kicks off the year by giving members and non-members in the southern part of the state the chance to meet up, discuss the industry and anticipate how the new year will play out. A dynamic speaker is typically featured to inspire conversation while attendees enjoy an evening of food & fun.
Spring Safety Conference
This event puts the focus on the cornerstone of the trucking industry - safety. Professionals that are responsible for fleet and team management, as well as those involved in HR and health/safety, gather each spring to hear from expert speakers on timely topics and explore the latest offerings from the allied partners that support the work that they do. The conference kicks off with an afternoon training session (free to attendees) and an opening night reception before launching into sessions and other networking opportunities.
The Annual Safety Awards banquet also takes place during the conference. Fleet Safety and Safety Professional of the Year awards are handed out during this time.
The deadline for nominations is February 28, 2023. Download, complete and return the applications below. If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Oregon Truck Driving Championships
The Oregon Truck Driving Championships (TDC) is the ultimate competition for some of Oregon's most skilled and safest drivers who put their knowledge and talent to the test each June. Those who place in one of the nine categories go on to compete at the National Truck Driving Championships. While the even highlights our drivers, it also showcases the industry's commitment to safety as all drivers must be accident-free for at least one year prior to the event.
The drivers undergo a written examination, pre-trip inspection test and finally, the skills test. This last task is what family, friends and other spectators come out to see and cheer on their favorite drivers. The event is open to the public and free for spectators to attend. Join in the celebration and see Oregon's truck drivers in action!
Bob Russell TruckPAC Golf Tournament
This is one of the primary fundraising activities for the Oregon TruckPAC fund, which ensures that the issues important to trucking companies operating in Oregon are actively represented in the state and beyond. Plus - it's a lot of fun! Teams of four tee off on a sunny (we hope) July morning, competing for bragging rights and cash prizes. Winners are announced during the post-tournament lunch as raffle prizes are presented and a quick advocacy update is given.
Suggestion for anyone thinking of joining in the fun - register early! The past few years this event has sold out well in advance. Carrier and allied members are also invited to be a sponsor, but keep in mind that there are only 18 holes, so space is limited!
Annual OTA Convention & Exhibition
This is the event that brings our association and industry leaders together. This even goes beyond your standard presentations & sessions - although learning the latest and hearing from experts is a big part of what takes place each year during the OTA Convention & Exhibition. Attendees are also encouraged to attendee committee meetings to hear about what OTA has been up to and plans for the future. Plenty of networking activities present the opportunity to exchange ideas and catch up with colleagues. Allied partners are invited to be part of the tradeshow-like exhibition to share their products and services with the key decisionmakers in attendance.
This is just the start to what takes place during the Annual OTA Convention & Exhibition. We also celebrate the contributions of our members by presenting awards for:
- Carrier Member of the Year
- Allied Member of the Year
- OTA Image Award
TMC Maintenance & Education Fair
Our fleet managers and service technicians keep things running (literally). With the addition of more and more technology into trucks and other equipment, in addition to regular maintenance, there is always something for technicians to learn about. This annual event features workshops and presentations from top industry suppliers, manufacturers and others. Allied members who have something to share with technicians are also invited to be part of the vendor fair during this day-long event.
